Get started get drawingThe Little Book of series focuses on delivering fun approachable and interesting art instruction in a fresh portable format With its contemporary design open practice pages creative exercises and prompts that encourage interactivity beginning artists learn the fundamentals of their craft often with immediate resultsI love doodling so I hoped that I would learn something from this book to help me be a better drawer Now I said that I would be honest and I didn't find it that helpful Maybe a beginner would get out of it but I found it kind of vague at times at how to make better cartoons A physical copy of the book would be better as there are practice pages and you cannot do that on a KindleA great book for a kid or beginner cartoonist it's middle of the road to me so 3 stars from me but it will end up in our library for the kids nonetheless🎨🎨🎨

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book All thoughts and opinions are my ownThanks to the author for providing a copy of this book via NetgalleyDoodling drawing sketching My daughter likes everything about it But with this book and some techniues i was surprised how easy you can do it I’m not a gifted person i cant put any good straight line but i was pleasantly surprised i could doodle something cute also There are some practice sheets in this book Everything looks very easy

Hmmthis is a book I can see buying for someone young that wants to start cartooning although it doesn’t really say how to make a cartoon strip it deals with the basics with some step by step illustrations and practice pages Maybe a beginner book for cartoonist wannabes Thank you to uarto Publishing Walter Foster and NetGalley – This is my honest review3 4 Stars

I would like to thank uarto Publishing Group – Walter Foster for providing me with a free – temporary – electronic ARC of this book via Netgalley As I am auto approved with this publisher it is my choice and any reviews given are obligation freeMy name is Janis and I am a doodler I feel I’ve already established that with previous books I’ve review right? Well I’ve always wanted to be able to do cartoon drawings too and have never seemed to get it uite right no matter how many comics and graphic novels I read no matter how many cartoons I watch DSo I really enjoyed ‘The Little Book of Cartooning Illustration’ as it had some great step by step hints and tips that really have encouraged me to try again I did do some cartoon faces but as I used a very light pencil they’re not showing up that well in any photos I have taken of them So please sceptics of my reviews who say I can’t truly review a book I’ve not tried – I DID try this one I just can’t show the results Oh and please feel free to visit when I am trying the next murder mystery I’m reading ; ‘The Little Book of Cartooning Illustration’ is just that a uick little book that gives you the step by step basics of generic cartooning I also liked how it gave step by steps on how to turn a drawing from realistic to cartoonish is that a word? I feel this is a great book for young and old artists wanting to try – or perfect – their cartooning skillsIn the layout and formatting side of things I do have a minor uibble but it is VERY minor I really didn’t like the way it kept swapping from portrait to landscape and back again I am sure if I had been reading a paperback version of this book it wouldn’t have been as annoying but I’d still have been frustrated If I’m using a book to learn a skill that uses my hands I don’t like having to keep moving the position of the book to keep learning Okay so this may just be a fault with me the reader and not the actual book so relax everyoneWould I recommend this book to others?Yes I would As said this book would be a great little guide to get artists – both young and old – to give cartooning a go Some who feel they can already draw fairly decent cartoons may also benefit from having a uick read through as we should never be too old or too experienced to learn something newWould I buy this book for myself?Yes I would If I am serious about illustrating some of my own writing with cartoon figures I can see ‘The Little Book of Cartooning Illustration’ being a very helpful book to have on hand despite the layout uibbleIn summary A good “little book” to add to your collection if you’re interested in doing some cartooning

I was sent a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest reviewThis book is short and on point as the title suggests and in one way I do appreciate that but on the other hand I feel that it does not offer enough theory or principles for someone looking for than just doodlingThe book could also improve on their step by step illustrations But on the positive I really loved the chapter on gagsIt looks like a nice start and it focuses on breaking the rules although it doesn't really offer many rules in order for the reader to know what to break Okay now that I read the full title again I have to change my rating because there weren't really that many tips or techniues

This is the perfect how to book for someone new to cartooning There are over 50 tips and techniues mentioned in this book on how to master the art of cartooning and illustration The techniues in this book are easy to follow and there are blank pages where you can practice This book will teach you not only how to draw characters and inanimate objects but also how to color them I recommend to art loversThank you to NetGalley and Walter Foster Publishing for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review

I’m at best passable with a pencil but I would like to get better As such I’m always on the look out for instructional material which can help me improve Thanks to NetGalley I got to read The Little Book of Cartooning Illustration which looked very interestingThe Little Book of Cartooning Illustration bills itself as a collection of tips and techniues for drawing characters and expressions in a traditional cartoonanimation style It definitely looks stylistically traditional to me a novice and know nothingThe book begins with a brief overview of physical tools and materials and an even briefer aside about digital ones before getting straight to business As a beginner I would have liked a little handholding but after a very short intro to the basics of drawing a human head a page with a template follows for your own attempt Assuming you now have assimilated the rules the book delves into how to break them for conveying emotion character or motion cartoonishly uickly moving through drawing heads body parts emotions and bodies and adding colour part 1 ends with a series of full step by step character drawingsPart 2 concerns itself with animals and inanimate objects and driving home the point that in cartooning less really can be Part 3 spends about 8 pages on two step by step walkthroughs illustrating scenes and gags respectively Part 4 consists entirely of two step by step caricatures spending about 5 pages per characterI’m so happy I got to read this book but ultimately it isn’t for me I’m not interested in the style taught in this book and I also found it a little intimidating as someone who isn’t proficient enough with a pencil to be able to simply draw a character I need info on the basics of how to draw characters not just how to change the style or expressions of them

The Little Book Cartooning Illustration is a fun easy to read and understand book I read it and found a lot of useful techniues and advice We enjoyed drawing little silly things tooThank you Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

This is surely not Disney studio The book features the works and advices of four illustrators There are some useful tips here and there but do not think you can learn cartooning or illustration from this It lacks a logic that guides you through the process it's a patchwork of advices and exercises that take you nowhere Example on a page it speaks about the turnaround of a head and that the character can be identified the same but doesn't tell you how to do it what happens with the features when the head turns and how to make the character recognizable Another one just a hint or two on how exaggerate the head it moves on coloring Colour won't make a bad cartoon better The illustrations are medium bad uality I've found them uninspring some of them simply ugly Also most of them look kind of outdated as if they were made 30 40 years ago or so The blank pages for the exercises are not useful at all
